SAP UI and Work Zone Developer Job Description

This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining user interfaces for SAP applications, particularly utilizing the SAPUI5 framework and SAP Work Zone solutions. The ideal candidate will be adept at both front-end development and integrating with SAP backend systems, ensuring a seamless user experience across various platforms. 

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy SAPUI5 applications according to established requirements and design guidelines.
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into technical solutions and requirements.
• Implement and maintain various interfaces, enhancements, and reports in SAP systems while ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Integrate UI5 applications with SAP modules and third-party systems using technologies like OData services and RESTful APIs.
• Optimize application performance, security, and maintainability by adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Configure and administer SAP Build Work Zone (standard/advanced edition) to deliver personalized and intuitive user experiences.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in development and production environments, utilizing debugging tools and techniques.
• Stay updated with the latest SAP UI5, Fiori, and Work Zone technologies and trends.
• Contribute to technical documentation, design specifications, and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Participate in code reviews, team meetings, and follow agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.). 

Required skills and experience

• Strong foundation in Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
• Proven experience as an SAP UI5 developer with a strong focus on building responsive and intuitive user interfaces.
• In-depth knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, along with the SAPUI5 framework and MVC principles.
• Experience with SAP Fiori design principles, UI Theme Designer, and Fiori Launchpad configuration.
• Strong understanding and experience with OData services and RESTful APIs for connecting UI5 applications with SAP backend systems.
• Experience in configuring and administering SAP Build Work Zone (standard/advanced edition) including user management, content integration, and navigation configuration.
• Familiarity with SAP Cloud Platform (SAP BTP) and cloud-native development principles.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to debug and troubleshoot complex issues in UI5 and Work Zone applications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively interact with technical teams, business stakeholders, and end-users.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and collaboration tools for managing projects and tasks
